Hiragana-Keyakizaka46: "Re:Mind" drama episode one recap

Not sure if the title is accurate enough, for now will keep it that way as Hiragana does deserve to be in the title. The eleven members, the ones you see above, are the stars of this drama and there will be no Kanji members making an appearance. Glad for that as I'll bet not many of us know these members well enough and after viewing two episodes they're really likable gals.
Yesterday said I would do two recap posts which would feature the first four episodes, the fifth show aired last night. Half right and wrong with that statement as there will be two posts today but each will only include one episode, it was impossible to fit two shows into one recap. Here's the cast and will keep the beginning like this for a while, they all go by their real first names in the show.
This is the order of the members in the opening credits, also the order they all woke up in.... you'll learn about that right off the bat. As a bonus also have the member's birthdates included. Number nine on the list is Mao who celebrates her 22 birthday today(least it's still the 10th if you're in North America), most members are older than I had thought.

Mirei Sasaki....  December 17, 1999

 Sarina Ushio.... December 26, 1997

Mei Higashimura.... August 23, 1998

Ayaka Takamoto.... November 2, 1998

Kyoko Saito.... September 5, 1997

 Kumi Sasaki.... January 22, 1996

 Shiho Kato....February 2, 1998

Yuuka Kageyama.... May 8, 2001

Mao Iguchi.... November 10, 1995

Mana Takase.... September 20, 1998

 Memi Kakizaki.... December 2, 2001

Above are the regular eleven Hiragana members but there needed to be a twelfth person. That ended up being a new second generation gal and her name is Miho Watanabe. There were auditions for the role and she came out on top. Through two shows we haven't seen her yet but at the end the second episode we did learn about her and she plays very important part in the drama, her DOB is
February 24, 2000.

It's only been two shows but can tell I'm really going to like this series. It began on October 13th, airing on both TV Tokyo and Netflix, last night or Friday morning the fifth episode was shown. Coming in thought this was going to be a confusing show and the first five minutes almost confirmed that belief. But then things slowly got explained and actually so far it's been a very simple show to follow which is a rarity for me.

Though it's easy to follow no dates or locations have been given so far and for now it would have no impact on the show but by the end of the next recap we may have an inkling of where they are. As you can see in the above screenshots there's a group of teen students who are slowly waking up with hoods on their heads, it takes the first five minutes for all of the girls to eventually arise.
The eleven students are in Class 2-B from an unnamed school. Guess the 2 means being a Junior though it was mentioned that the following day they were supposed to attend their graduation. For some reason it took the eleven a long time to notice what kind of predicament they were in, how can someone not noticed their legs are shackled to the floor?! Well, it took them well over five minutes and even when they found about their situation they weren't in a state of panic.

To be more accurate it may have taken the students over ten minutes until they discovered they were bound to the floor, no clue why it would take someone so long to notice that. See that rat above, to be honest I can't stand them and neither can the girls, those rats made a few appearances. The worst was when Kyoko had noticed a suit of armor moving and thought a person may be in it.
The suit was moving but not with a person. The gals threw a few objects at it which made it topple onto the table they were sitting at, when the helmet fell off dozens of rats scampered out!!!! Some people may say horror films aren't their cup of tea but none of them are as terrifying as seeing rats scamper like that in front of you!
The students did mention that there were twenty in the class which means eight are unaccounted for. We do hear the name Miho but we don't learn about her until the second episode. The other missing students are a mystery, could they have possibly been male students? We only learn a few minor details of what was happening with the girls before they woke up in this dining room, looks like one that you would see in a mansion or even in an old British castle.

Don't worry about these being long recaps as they shouldn't be, an episode only last a bit over 23 minutes and this may be the last section. Not much happened in the first five or more minutes as we watched the eleven students wake up slowly. All were abducted from different places, Sarina was heading home from her part time job and others were also doing some activity.
How they ended up in this room is a mystery but they've lost seven hours. According to the students watches it's approaching midnight, the last recollection they had was the time being before 5:00 pm. The clocks in the room are off, most of them are showing it's 6:00 pm and for now no reason has been disclosed for the difference. Wouldn't call it panic but finally the eleven realize they need to start doing something to get out of the shackles.
They make a few attempts but there's no way they'll be able to escape unless they have a key or something that can cut through steel. Said this would be short, just like that we're up to the final minute and every event has been discussed. All of a sudden there was a loud ringing of a bell followed by the lights in the room going out. They were only off for about a minute, when they popped back on it was noticed that the amount of students has decreased by one as .... Mao somehow has disappeared!

Good start to this drama and episode two may have been even more interesting, haven't watched any shows past that one. Word wise could squeeze two episodes into one recap but took so many screenshots it'd make it so much more difficult to follow the story. Plus after some recent tome length reviews bet many enjoy reading something much shorter and almost all should be this length. Check out the next post for episode two's recap and here's plenty more screenshots for your enjoyment.
